Opportunity knocks

Volunteering at DIVD Academy

DIVD Academy runs on volunteers: researchers, developers, teachers and community builders who want to make the digital world safer. Because we are growing fast we only fill specific roles at a time.

What the process looks like

  1. 1. Check the open roles
We publish the roles we are currently looking for. If nothing fits yet, keep an eye on the page — this changes regularly.
  2. 2. Complete the introduction
Take the free DIVD Academy Introduction so you know what we do and how we work.
  3. 3. Register as a volunteer
Fill in the volunteer registration form.
  4. 4. Introductory meeting
You meet our Head of People and Culture, and then the head of the department you would join.
  5. 5. Certificate of conduct (VOG)
You receive an email from Justis to request a free certificate of conduct and upload it. The digital version is preferred; a photo of the paper version also works.
  6. 6. Sign the volunteer agreement
The agreement confirms that you follow the DIVD Academy code of conduct.
  7. 7. Receive your accounts
You get your DIVD Academy credentials via Google Workspace, set up two-factor authentication and activate your internal Slack account.
  8. 8. Start contributing
Read the handbook, introduce yourself in Slack and get going.

Expect this to take a while

Onboarding including screening takes between one week and two months. In the meantime you are very welcome in the open DIVD.community Slack, where you can meet volunteers and like-minded people from across the DIVD family.
